Weeds don’t know how to grow in rows

Have you ever thought about weeds? I mean, when I was a kid, I just thought most of them were regular flowers, until adults broke the bad news.

How about grass? You don’t have to plant it. Why is it not considered a weed? If it is considered a weed, why is everybody okay with grass growing in their yards, but not other weeds?

Maybe there’s just one single difference between a weed and the plants we prefer: the flowers and trees and bushes we plant obey us and grow up right where we put them.

“A weed is a plant that has mastered every survival skill except for learning how to grow in rows.” – Doug Larson
